This is a Foundation Paper Pieced Pattern bundle that contains 5 PDF files for instant download.
Why Ellie’s Birds?
My mother in law loves her bird feeders, and when she had knee replacements, I always heard my father-in-law say he needs to go fill the bird feeders to feed “Ellie’s Birds”. He is gone during the week for work, and making sure she could watch her birds while he was gone was always so sweet to me. Even though he’s the only one who calls her Ellie, I thought it was appropriate for the block sets inspired by this sweet gesture.
Purchasing this bundle is the only way to get the bird feeder block at this time.
This set includes 5 foundation paper pieced blocks. There are NOT directions to assemble the pictured quilt, however it's simply sashing and borders added to all five blocks.
Each PDF has two separate patterns for each size (no scaling required!)
The five pattern files are:
-"Soaring Eastern Bluebird" - This happy bluebird is based on the bluebirds found in my home state of Indiana, sewn together in 14 sections
-"Red Winged Blackbird"- A cute red winged blackbird sitting on a stick that assembles in 14 sections and finishes to either 12x12 or 15x15 inches.
-"Perched Cardinal"- This regal cardinal perched on a branch that comes together in 11 sections, and finishes to either 12x12 or 15x15 inches.
-"American Goldfinch"- A flying yellow finch that is sewn in 12 sections, and finishes to either 12x12 or 15x15 inches.
-"Ellie's Bird Feeder"- This PDF is only available in this block bundle, assembles in 13 sections, and finishes to 12x28 or 15x35 inches. There is plenty of room to trim the block to fit any number of sizes, if you desire.
You will only receive digital downloads that you can print at home. They are designed for standard US letter sized paper (8.5 x 11 inches).
There are no Y seams in my patterns.
Included in each PDF:
-The pattern and file sizes listed above
-the instructions and directions on the order to assemble each pattern
-a coloring and planning overview sheet, with the sections labeled
-a numbered and colored page for stress-free color design
-the numbered pattern with 1/4" seam allowance included in each section
-tips for printing and piecing
These patterns were tested by beginner paper piecers, and all but the bluebird were given the beginner-friendly (w/ a little experience) seal of approval. The bluebird has lots of small sections and some bulky seams and will require an intermediate level.
My PDF instructions are written to be a guide during assembly, not a how-to for someone who has never done foundation paper piecing before.
